So what is this?

It’s a fresh take on speed dating. We host small to medium-sized events where you can confidently meet new people in a unique environment.

Is this a dating thing only?​

While we’re early in our journey, yes, our focus is on dating. But stay tuned—we’re brewing up plans for platonic and shared hobby events in the near future.

It's my first time. What do I do?​

• Check out our upcoming calendar events. Find one that suits your vibe and sign up!

• Upon registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email letting you know the place, time and event (Don't forget to put it in your calendar!)

• We'll send you a reminder text/email the day before the event as a reminder as well.

• Ready? See you at the event!

Ok, I made it here. Now what?

Upon arriving, ask the front desk/door human to let you know where our Spark Specialist is located. They should be wearing something that stands out. If it's your first time at this location, we recommend that you come a bit early to get comfortable with the environment. We recommend 15- 20 minutes early to check in and get comfy.

Upon checking in, you'll receive a name tag and match slips for you to take note after each date whether you would like to match with each person.

What are the dates like?

• Each date lasts 15-20 minutes. Take notes after the date if you'd like to match with that person.

• Enjoy a brief break between every couple of dates (around 5 minutes).

• We’ll prompt you when each date begins, who you’re meeting, and when it wraps up.

 

 

OMG, that was so much fun! The event is over. What do I do now?

Had a blast? Awesome! Once the dates are over, you'll have a little bit of time to turn in your match slips to the Spark Specialist. If for some reason you cant or forget to, no worries! Contact us via email or text before 12pm noon the next day so we can make sure we pair you up. 

 

But wait! Did you enjoy our awesome partner venue? Stick around and try their delicious food or sip on a drink. Discover the places that make Portland so special. And who knows, someone who found you absolutely irresistible might stick around too! ;) (Consensually, of course people! Don’t be creepy!)

So how does this work?

• Once the Spark Specialist receives everyone's match slips, they'll run the results through a special program to see who matched with who. If both you and one of your dates elected the MATCH box on your match slip, you'll match! 

• By 12pm noon, you should receive an email/text with your match results and their contact information. From there it's on you to contact each other and coordinate future dates. Congrats!

What's a Spark Specialist?

Every event will have a human that works with Yarrow as a point of contact (i.e. Our Spark Specialist). Their goal is to make sure the event goes as smoothly as possible. If you have any questions, they will be present during the duration of the event. They will also be in charge of notifying you when time in the date is over and who the new pairings will be. ​

What's a Match Slip

For the moment, during each event, you'll receive some paper slips and a pencil (yes the cute little golf ones). On those slips, you'll put down your date number (it's assigned to you at the beginning of the night) and the date number of your date. After each date, you'll write down whether it was a match (You'd like Yarrow to exchange your information with this person if they too matched with you) or not. There's also a small section for notes if you want points of reference.

At the end of each event, you'll have some time to finish your match slips and turn them in to your Spark Specialist. They'll run it through their magical love program and if you both match, you'll receive a notification the next day by 12 noon with each person who matched with you along with their preferred contact info.

Dang it! I didn't match with anyone...

While our goal is to create meaningful connections for everyone, we understand that not every event results in a match. If you don't match with anyone, don't be discouraged! Here are a few things to keep in mind:

• Try Again: Sometimes, it's just about timing and the right mix of people. We encourage you to attend another event and give it another shot.

• Self-Reflection: Take this opportunity to reflect on your approach and interactions. Sometimes small adjustments can make a big difference.

• Stay Positive: Remember, speed dating is just one way to meet new people. Stay open to other opportunities for connection and keep a positive attitude.

• Feedback: If you have any feedback about the event, we'd love to hear it! Your insights help us improve the experience for everyone.
